W – 4 Form 2022 – 2022 W4 Form – The Form W-4 has undergone a major overhaul in 2020 and now has less lines to fill out. The way you fill in Form W-4, also known as the Employee’s withholding Certificate, will determine the amount of tax your employer is withholding from your paycheck. Your employer will send the money it withholds from you paycheck to the IRS along with your Social Security number.
Your withholding is a part of the tax bill for your annual income that you compute when you submit your tax return for the year. The Form W-4 requires you to include identifying information like your address and name.

What’s Changed with the W-4?
W – 4 Form 2022 – The W-4 was revised to eliminate the possibility of the possibility of claiming personal allowances. The Form W-4 had previously included a Personal Allowances Worksheet that let you know how many allowances you could claim. The more allowances you can claim in a week, the less money an employer would deduct from your pay; however, the lesser allowances you claim as allowances, the more your employer will withhold.
Previously, allowances were loosely linked to dependent and personal exemptions on your tax form. The standard deduction then doubled in the wake of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) in which the exemptions for dependents and personal exemptions were eliminated.
What Happens If I Begin an Entirely New Job?
As previously mentioned, when you begin a new job, each employee should fill out the new Form W-4. This doesn’t affect the amount of your wage that will be paid to Social Security or Medicare. These are fixed amounts.
Employers will still send you a check even you don’t submit the W-4. However, they will deduct income tax at the highest rates for single filers, and make no other adjustments.
